Van Persie signs on the dotted line

The Arsenal have secured a significant signing for the coming season with news that Van Persie has agreed a new long term deal.

Van Perie has been with the club since joining in the summer of 2004. He's had a mixed time of it, suffering injuries throughout his stay and struggling to establish himself in a team that had Henry and compatriot Bergkamp up front. In recent years (injury permitting) Robin has established himself and can now be considered our no1 striker. He offers a creative outlet, chipping in with assists on a regular basis, a deadly delivery from set pieces and he is now beginning to consistently bag goals. Van Persies renewal is a major coup as we have managed to hold on to one of our younger players as they approach their prime. Hopefully the next few seasons will continue to be fruitful for Robin as he and the team grow into a world class outfit.

In other news Melo hasn't yet completed his move to Juve

A number of media sources are reporting that the deal is hingeing on the personnal terms offered to Marco Marchionni who would be moving to Florence as part of the deal. He is apparently holding out for a higher wage, go on sneak in there Wenger. I'm sure Eboue wouldn't be so demanding!!!

More tomorrow.
