Sunday News- A couple of players linked

The rumours surrounding our Ivorian Tiger Emmanuel Eboue are growing stronger by the day.

Fiorentina’s interest in the utility man has been documented for the last couple of weeks but it has intensified over the weekend.

Reports are now suggesting Fiorentina have agreed personal terms with the African and are now just finalising a fee with the Arsenal (surely a fee should be agreed before they can speak to the player!) Hopefully more news will hopefully emerge on this one during this week, as the rumoured fee of 10 million Euros seems far too good to turn down.

The News of the World has linked us with a move for Chelsea reserve Salomon Kalou.

The boss has previously admitted an interest in the Ivorian winger and the News of the World is claiming our interest has been re-ignited since Adebayor left. I think Kalou's a decent player but a fee of £7m seems too high considering he only has one year left on his contract. I'd be interested in signing him but I wouldn't pay more than £3m. I also don't believe he would be a replacement for Adebayor, he would be more of a second striker or winger, not a target man like Ade was.

The Express links us to the man I would love us to replace Adebayor with, Klass- Jan Huntelaar.

The Express believes we have turned our attention to him as his move to Stuttgart has stalled. Tottenham who are also rumoured to be interested are now supposed to be close to re-signing Peter Crouch which would end their interest in Huntelaar. I'm really hoping this one happens as he would be a superb player for us.

The same article also claims we are interested in signing Lee Cattermole from Wigan. Cattermole is a strong, gritty, no nonsense centre midfielder. We are missing these qualities from our team but I just don't think Cattermole is the answer. A fee rumoured to be as high as £10m seems massively inflated. Wigan may have mugged Spurs and Man Utd in the last 6 months when selling players but I guarantee we won’t be joining that list.

More tomorrow.....
