Sunday Roundup - AdeNoMore

The big news of course is Adebayor’s departure.

Adebayor was unveiled as a Man City player yesterday evening and moves in a deal reported to be worth £25m to Arsenal.

Ade moved on to City having spent the previous 3½ seasons with the club. He joined us from Monaco for a reported fee of £3m in January 2006 and went on to play 142 games scoring an impressive 62 goals. What he lacked in ability he made up for by working hard and chasing lost causes. He became a fans favourite in his second full season with the club (07-08) as he developed a cutting edge to his game, finishing the season with 30 goals.

It was during the summer of 08 where Ade’s problems began. He agitated for a move all summer, flirting outrageously with both Barcelona and AC Milan. He eventually signed a new deal with the club for £80,000 p/w. The Arsenal fans never forgave his behaviour and he went on to have a poor season scoring just 16 goals. His work rate dropped as he began to believe he was a ‘superstar’. Ade’s relationship with the club has deteriorated to the extent that most if not all Gooners are glad to see the back of him. We will undoubtedly miss his goals and in losing Ade we have strengthen one of our rivals however his relationship with the fans was untenable and he had to leave the club. I would wish Ade the best but I’ve grown to despise him, I think he sums up all that is wrong with football, good riddance. We will hopefully see some movement in the coming days as the boss now has some serious funds at his disposal.

In some lazy journalism, we have again been linked to Obafemi Martins.

Does anyone actually expect us to sign him? He’s just one of a list of players we are continually linked to. Mexes, Frey, Yaya Toure, Trezeguet, Given, the list goes on.

There is no other real news to be honest. In the next couple of days I’ll speculate on who could replace our departed Togan hitman.
