According to the admittedly unreliable Daily Mail website we have agreed a fee with Manchester City for the Togo hitman and Adebayor has undergone a medical.

Reports of a fee as high as £25m would represent fantastic business for Arsenal and would give us the funds to replace him and strengthen our centre midfield options. Adebayor is also rumoured to have been offered a £170,000 per week contract for 5 years.
Once the formalities of Adebayors move to the Eastlands are completed the Gunners are expected to make a move for Mourane Chamakh.

Chamakh is a tall rangy centre forward, who’s good at holding the ball up and bringing others into the game. He has one year left on his contract at Bordeaux at would jump at a move to the Emirates. A fee of £7m is being mentioned and it is looking increasing likely that Mourane will be an Arsenal player by the start of the season.
The season is now rapidly approaching and we will play our traditional season opener against Barnet this weekend.

A number of first team regulars are expected to make the short trip across North London with Almunia, Clichy, Senderos, Arshavin, Vermaelen and Nasri are all expected to feature. The regulars will be supported by some of our young stars such as Jack Wilshere, Giles Sunu, Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Henry Lansbury and Kyle Bartley. More of a review of this game on Friday/ Saturday once the full squad is announced.
Robin Van Persie has been named as Arsenal.com player of the year.

RVP secured a whopping 35.3% of the vote. I’ve got no complaints about Robin being player of the year in a season where he scored 20 goals in 44 games and established himself as our main striker. My problem is there was no real competition for him. Fabregas, Clichy and Walcott missed large chunks of the season. Eduardo and Rosicky played about 10 minutes between them and Adebayor had well documented problems. The lack of competition is summed up by Andrey Arshavin finishing second and he didn’t pull on the shirt until February!!! I’m hopeful a strong season next year will see several contenders emerge for this award.
