Barnet review and more on AdebaySNORE

Today saw Arsenal take on Barnet in our opening pre- season fixture.

The game took place at Barnet’s ground Underhill which is also home to the Arsenal reserve team.

The Starting eleven was

GK Almunia
RB Djourou
CB Gallas
CB Vermaelen
LB Silvestre
RM Wilshere
CM Randall
CM Frimpong
LM Rosicky
ST Watt
ST Arshavin

In his first appearance for nearly 18 months Tomas Rosicky was given the armband and in an even first half. We took the lead in the 43rd minute when Arshavin turned home Watt’s cross at the far post. Barnet equalised through former Arsenal trialist Ismael Yakubu just before half time after Randall gave away a silly foul on the edge of the box.

We made a total of 10 changes at half time with Vermaelen the only player to emerge from the dressing room.

Barazite scored a tidy goal four minutes after the restart. He beat a couple of Barnet defenders and rifled the ball into the top corner from 20 yards. Welcome back Nacer! With 8 minutes left Barnet again equalised through Eliot Charles to give Barnet a deserved draw.

All in all it was a good opener for the boys and was great to see Rosicky back in action. For a full report see the below link.

In other news Adebayor is edging closer to Man City as he is now having his 17th medical of the week.

Hopefully we can get this deal sorted sooner rather than later and get on with planning for next season.

We’ve signed a new mascot who looks like a hedgehog.
